Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I’d like to invite you to participate in a telephone town hall on Thursday, Feb. 26, from 6 to 7 p.m. with Sen. Steve O’Ban and myself. Simply call (253) 200-3122 — you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, vote in polls and listen in on the conversation. If you want to follow along online you can visit listen.townhallinteractive.com and enter the PIN: 381448.
This week in the state Legislature we had the great privilege of celebrating Navy Day and honoring the men and women, as well as their families, who serve our country. We also recognized those members of the Navy who helped in the rescue and recovery after the tragic Oso mudslide last year.
Several of my bills are making their way through the Legislature — here’s a quick update on their status:
- A Business & Occupation tax credit proposal for businesses that hire unemployed veterans (HB 1241) passed the House Community Development and Housing & Tribal Affairs Committee on Feb. 2. It awaits a hearing in the House Finance Committee.
- An incentive bill (HB 1853) encouraging utilities to build infrastructure for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations got bipartisan support at a public hearing in the House Technology & Economic Development Committee Feb. 10. As an EV owner myself, I’m excited about the possibility of more people driving EVs and our country achieving greater energy independence. When I pay my electricity bill, for example, I don’t send one dime to OPEC. All of my transportation dollars stay right here in Washington.
Do you have any questions, concerns or ideas? Please don’t hesitate to contact my office — I am here to serve you.
Thank you, and have a wonderful weekend.
Sincerely,

Dick Muri
